Colorado authorities arrested a man for allegedly driving through a pro-police rally “at a high rate of speed” over the weekend.
The demonstration was being held on Saturday in Eaton, Colorado, when a maroon SUV drove through the crowd, according to local police.
“Eaton Police Department responded to a report in the 200 block of Collins St. of a male subject who was traveling in a maroon SUV attempting to drive through or over a crowd of pedestrians. The pedestrians were participating in a Blue Lives Matter rally on 07/25/2020,” police officials posted on Facebook.
“The maroon SUV exited the roadway and was traveling through the grass park. The SUV and subject left the area at a high rate of speed and was later taken into custody at the 1100 block of 2nd St. Rd in the Town of Eaton. The Subject was taken into custody at 3:40PM,” the post continued.
The driver was identified as 21-year-old Isaiah Cordova, and he was charged with seven counts of attempted first-degree assault, seven counts of felony menacing, and one count of reckless driving. No one was hurt during the incident. He was bonded out Monday morning, according to ABC’s local Denver affiliate.
“My constituents were peacefully voicing their support for police when a SUV drove through the crowd, nearly hitting them,” Colorado Rep. Ken Buck tweeted of the event.
“All Americans should be able to exercise their #1A rights, free of violence. The person responsible must be brought to justice,” he said.
