Dead cows wait to taken away by the Bosnian military from a farm near the Bosnian town of Bosanski Samac along river Sava, 200 kms north of Bosnian capital of Sarajevo, on Tuesday, May 20, 2014. A new calamity emerged Tuesday in the flood-hit Balkans even as emergency workers battled overflowing rivers and evacuated thousands: tons of drowned livestock were posing a health hazard. With the rainfall stopping and temperatures rising, the withdrawing floodwaters revealed a harrowing sight: thousands of dead cows, pigs, sheep, dogs and other animals that were left behind after their panicked owners fled rapidly advancing torrents. Bosnian police forces secure the entrance as protesters stoned a local government building in the Bosnian town of Tuzla, 140 kms north of Sarajevo, Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014. Several hundred protesters clashed with police as they tried to storm into the building of the local government and confront the officials there whom they blame for allowing the city's major state-owned companies to go bankrupt after dubious privatizations. The four former state-owned companies that employed most of Tuzla's population were sold but the contracts obliged the new owners to invest in them and make them profitable. But those just sold the assets, stopped paying workers, and filed for bankruptcy. The authorities did nothing about such violation of sales contracts.(AP Photo/Darko Zabus)
