President Trump said Thursday that Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., has no chance at running for any office again now that he’s been forced out of his Senate seat.
“How could Jeff Flake, who is setting record low polling numbers in Arizona and was therefore humiliatingly forced out of his own Senate seat without even a fight (and who doesn’t have a clue), think about running for office, even a lower one, again?” Trump asked on Twitter. “Let’s face it, he’s a Flake!”

Flake announced late last year that he wouldn’t seek his Senate seat again, in a speech in which he warned that Trump could turn the Republican Party into a “fearful, backward-looking party.”
Flake appeared to step down because it didn’t appear likely he’d be able to keep his seat in the Trump era. Since then, he’s kept open the idea of challenging Trump in 2020.
“It has not been in my plans to run for president, but I have not ruled it out,” Flake said earlier this year.
