Ghislaine Maxwell deposition transcripts from 2016 released

The transcripts of depositions that Ghislaine Maxwell did in 2016 as part of a defamation lawsuit have been released to the public.

U.S. District Judge Loretta Preska of New York ruled Tuesday that deposition transcripts, which detail Maxwell’s relationship with deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, “shall be posted on the docket no later than 9:00 a.m. on October 20, 2020.”

The order came after a federal appeals court found arguments by Maxwell’s lawyers to keep them sealed on the grounds that they contained “intimate” details about her life to be meritless.

Epstein, 66, was arrested in July 2019 on charges of sex-trafficking minors. He was found dead in his prison cell in August, which the New York City medical examiner determined to be a suicide. Maxwell was his alleged accomplice who found and groomed girls for him. She was arrested in July of this year and faces up to 35 years in prison if convicted.

The transcripts of two depositions were taken in connection with a defamation suit that Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein’s accusers, brought against Maxwell that was settled, according to Fox News.

The deposition materials, which have some redactions, total more than 400 pages.
