Many months ago, it was revealed that Maine senatorial candidate Graham Platner had a Nazi tattoo for nearly 20 years before removing it after deciding to challenge Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) for her seat. And Democrats decided to look the other way because the party must flip Maine and defeat Collins to have any hope of winning back the upper chamber.

A few weeks ago, a New York Times report revealed that Platner had abused some of his ex-girlfriends physically and mentally. And again, the party of “believe all women” still decided to support him, all in the name of gaining back power.

But on Monday, the dam finally broke courtesy of a Politico piece featuring yet another ex-girlfriend of Platner coming forward not only to accuse him of abuse, but outright rape. Per Politico

“Jenny Racicot said she had an on-and-off relationship with Platner, who is now the Democratic Senate nominee in Maine, for more than two years before he entered her rural Maine home uninvited one night in late 2021, deeply intoxicated, and forced himself on her while she repeatedly told him to stop,” the piece reads. “She said she cut off contact with him after telling him the encounter was not consensual.”

“I remember him grabbing my pelvis and being really forceful of me,” Racicot said. “I remember the specific moment where I thought to myself, like, ‘This is no longer my choice.’”

When Racicot was asked by CNN if she believed she was raped, she replied, “By definition? Yes, absolutely.”

Democrats should have condemned and disavowed Platner well before this rape allegation ever became public. Because on top of the Nazi tattoo and abuse allegations made by several women, Platner also believes or said the following:

  • That Republicans are “fascists.”
  • That conservative Supreme Court Justices, including Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas, should be impeached.
  • That he supports packing the Supreme Court.
  • That “black people don’t tip.”
  • That a Purple Heart recipient, Pfc. Terry Daniels, deserved to die after taking four bullets from the Taliban while protecting his platoon in Afghanistan during a 2012 firefight, calling him a “stupid motherf***er.”
  • That he enjoyed pleasuring himself in public toilets.
  • That if he caught a male breaking into his home, he would rape them, “but not in a gay way.”
  • That those living in rural America are “racist and stupid.”
  • That we should “cooperate with China” for the sake of fighting climate change.
  • That women should “act like an adult for f***’s sake” to avoid being raped.
  • That ICE should be “dismantled.”
  • That every member of the Trump Cabinet should be subpoenaed.

Despite all of these statements ranging from bizarre to radical, Democrats refused to condemn this maniac.

“Obviously, there’s a lot in that behavior that’s really challenging — it’s hard to stomach,” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) told CNN’s Manu Raju outside of the Capitol in June. “But at the end of the day, I think it’s a choice. If the choice on the ballot is between that and a senator who’s voted to take healthcare away from millions of Americans, that’s the situation that we have to weigh.”

Clearly, in Ocasio-Cortez’s world, Platner’s past behavior is “challenging”, but it can be overlooked as long as healthcare can be provided for millions of illegal immigrants in the country.

So in the spirit of David Letterman, here are the Top 10 people in politics and media who completely debased themselves in supporting soon-to-be-ex-candidate Graham Platner.

10. Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT), June: “Graham Platner is somebody who served our country, he’s served his community; he’s also made mistakes and he’s admitted that,” Murphy told CBS. “Character also involves standing up to people who are bankrupting and corrupting this country. And this race is going to be a contrast between somebody who has put his life on the line for this country, against somebody who is literally empowering the moral hollowing-out of our nation from the White House.”

9. Jennifer Welch, podcaster, June, after multiple women came forward and accused Platner of assaulting them: “Everyone’s talking about toxic relationships and tattoos and all of this s***. Talk about Susan Collins voting to dismantle protections that keep women safe and keep women free because that is the real story here. She is a MAGA fascist to her core.”

8. Jon Favreau, former Obama speechwriter and co-host of Pod Save America: “Graham Platner isn’t just our best and only chance to beat Susan Collins, he’s a good, decent man who’s struggled and grown and is always trying to do better. I hope everyone with reservations takes a little time to get to know the real life version of him, not what the algorithm throws in our faces. Clearly, that’s what so many people in Maine have done – from all different walks of life and political persuasions.”

7. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), who led the fight against Brett Kavanaugh from being confirmed to the Supreme Court due to allegations that he sexually assaulted a female classmate 35 years ago at a high school party that zero people could corroborate. She said of Platner in April while enthusiastically endorsing him, “That’s my kind of man!”

6. Sunny Hostin, The View, ABC News, June: “So he’s a liar, a racist, an antisemite. He’s a homophobe. So he has all the things and character does matter. But we have someone that has almost unbridled power in the White House at this point. There are no checks and balances, and the only way that we can maybe bring a bit of our democracy back is by having a Congress that functions and that has these checks and balances. And I do think one of the only ways is to win that seat in Maine.”

5. Jodi Kantor of the New York Times, who was one of the journalists who broke sexual assault allegations against Harvey Weinstein, on accusations against Platner by three ex-girlfriends that included physical and mental abuse and several sexually explicit texts sent by him to other women while married, June: “These aren’t about a boss and a young female employee being subjected to sexual advances. They were mostly made in the context of consensual relationships.”

4. Jonathan V. Last, the Bulwark, May: “Call me crazy, but Graham Platner has a chance to be the [2028] Democratic nominee.”

3. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT): Arguably could be No. 1 on this list because he’s Jewish and the Nazi tattoo wasn’t disqualifying. Sanders finally called for Platner to drop out on Tuesday, but his credibility is forever tarnished.

2. Kyle Kulinski, podcaster, after allegations by ex-girlfriends against Platner, June: “If you fancy yourself a liberal and you’re harping away on Graham Platner based off this bulls*** smear story, you are an idiot, you’re a moron, you’re useless, you’re a tool for the right and perhaps you’re too stupid to realize it or maybe you do realize it. And low-key you would prefer Susan Collins wins over an actual leftist… Platner could have sexted my mom and I’d still vote for him.”

1. Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA), June, on Platner’s ex-girlfriend Lyndsey Fifield’s allegations that he twisted her arm, left marks on her shoulders, and once locked her in a bedroom all night and wouldn’t let her out until the next morning: “I believe her. I think Graham acted shamefully, and he acted as The New York Times characterized it, as a toxic relationship. It is shameful. It is ugly. It happened in a dark period of his life, and the Maine voters that I met said they don’t like it. They knew that he had these chapters. They are willing to extend him grace and redemption, and they’re focused now on what he’s running for.”

Khanna’s support is particularly galling given his advocacy on behalf of Jeffrey Epstein’s victims. Khanna, of course, cares as much for Epstein victims as he does for Platner’s. In the Epstein case, it was cheesy performance art in an effort to bring down Trump via contrived innuendo over actual evidence. In Platner’s case, Khanna used it to bring attention to himself ahead of a likely presidential run.

Khanna has also since called on Platner to drop out, but any presidential aspirations he had are toast.

BIDEN, PLATNER, AND THE DEMOCRATS’ BROKEN NOMINATION MACHINE

It can’t be overstated how much the Platner bandwagon has hurt the Blue Team’s brand in a pivotal midterm year. Never again can they take the high moral ground, particularly on women’s issues.

And the irony is that the return on investment will be another six years of Collins in a Senate that will likely remain in Republican hands.
