Remember Jack Dorsey, founder of Twitter, now X? He’s been busy with his Block, Inc. tech company, which launched “Dessa” on Oct. 24. The main tagline from the home page is, “You learned to talk by listening. So did Dessa.”
This new technology speaks and listens at the same time. It interrupts and pauses, like someone who is thinking. It has seemingly emotional responses, such as laughter and crying. In a post on his former social media platform that got over 13 million views, Dorsey claims that his team created Dessa because “voice is the most natural way to interact with intelligence.” Their goal, he says, was to make it feel like one is “talking with a person.”
