RNC: Secret weapons Don Jr., Ivanka, Eric, Lara delivered Senate win

Republican Party officials are crediting President Trump’s 53 rallies across 24 states for building its lead in the U.S. Senate, but are also giving a nod to the non-stop campaigning of his family — Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump, and Eric and Lara Trump.

“The RNC’s team on the ground as well as Ivanka, Donald Trump Jr, Eric and Lara Trump’s campaigning made a big difference,” said the Republican National Committee.

Most of the candidates that the family campaigned for won.

Lara Trump, for example, helped bring victories in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Missouri, Mississippi and Minnesota. And she also pushed across the finish line a Florida initiative to end the racing of greyhounds and other dogs.

She went against media predictions and worked to help Republican gubernatorial candidates in Florida and Georgia and both won. She told Secrets just before Election Day, “It’s very similar to what I felt in 2016. When I got out in the country, whenever I traveled to Florida, North Carolina, to Iowa, to Michigan, I felt like people were excited about something that the media was missing. And I think people are really enthusiastic to get out and vote in the midterms more so than they have in years past.”

The president did his best too. Of the 53 rallies he held since moving into the White House, 30 came after Labor Day, the traditional kickoff of campaign season, and many were on behalf of Senate candidates who won Tuesday.

“President Trump supporters turned out for GOP last night, particularly in states POTUS visited and where we had strong ground games,” said the party. “Thanks to President Trump doing more than any other president in history to support GOP candidates and an unprecedented GOTV effort by the RNC, the were able to stop the blue wave,” it added.

The Republican National Committee’s fundraising and get out the vote ground game was unprecedented in numbers and size. Key figures:

  • RNC raised $270 million compared to the DNC’s $136 million.
  • RNC invested a record $275 million in the 2018 election cycle, the largest ever.

  • 72 million traditional, volunteer, voter contacts like door knocking and phone calls.
  • 2.1 billion emails sent.
  • 55.3 million targeted mail pieces.
  • 20.2 million GOTV phone calls.
