Democratic House candidate Adam Frisch called on President Joe Biden to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race on Tuesday, joining a growing number of Democrats urging the president to step down from the ticket ahead of November.
Frisch, who nearly unseated Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) in the 2022 midterm elections and is once again running for Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District, called on Biden to remove himself from consideration and allow for another candidate to take his place. Frisch joins a number of other prominent Democrats who made similar calls on Tuesday, including Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D-TX) and former Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH).
“It has been clear to me for some time — and the debate only reinforced it — neither candidate should be running for President,” Frisch said in a video statement. “We deserve better. President Biden should do what’s best for the country and withdraw from the race. I thank President Biden for his years of service, but the path ahead requires a new generation of leadership to take our country forward.”
