Biden calls for cooling of political rhetoric on both sides ahead on RNC

President Joe Biden urged the country to "lower the temperature in politics" Sunday night following Saturday's attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump.

President Joe Biden called to “lower the temperature in our politics” during his third public remarks following the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump.

Biden sharply condemned the shooting, and made a plea for unity, saying that while Americans may disagree, “We are not enemies, we’re neighbors, we’re friends, co-workers, citizens, and most importantly we’re fellow Americans.”

Biden said Saturday’s attempted assassination called on “all of us to take a step back.”

“There’s no place in America for this kind of violence, for any violence, ever. Period. No exceptions. We can’t allow this violence to be normalized,” Biden said during his remarks.
