Democrats are growing more optimistic about their 2024 chances after Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) was chosen as Vice President Kamala Harris’s running mate.
“Such an interesting transformation has happened,” former Obama adviser David Axelrod said in an appearance on CNN. “Suddenly, Donald Trump feels like the embattled incumbent. I mean, that’s the way he’s behaving. And they are presenting themselves as the turn-the-page candidates. And that’s the field that we got tonight.”
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) predicted that Harris and Walz could “win big” if they focus on progressive economic stances.
“So I think to the degree that the vice president and the governor can stay focused on economic issues that benefit working people, demand that the billionaire class are paying their fair share of taxes. You know what? I think they’re going to not only win, I think they have a chance to win pretty big,” he said.
