Estonian President Alar Karis called for increased international pressure against Russia after violations of its airspace.

“The only viable way forward towards a ceasefire and just and lasting peace is to increase collective international pressure on Russia, to force them to peace in Ukraine, and to act in a way that is expected from a permanent member of the Security Council,” Karis said, after decrying Russia’s conduct in Ukraine and its violations of Estonia’s airspace.

Karis called the airspace violations by Russian fighter jets a “hostile act,” and part of a “pattern of similar recent incidents happening on the European Union’s eastern border.”

The government of Norway said on Tuesday that Russia has violated its airspace three times in 2025. Unidentified drones in the capitals of Norway and Denmark led to airport closures on Monday amid concerns over airspace incursions in Scandinavia.
