Vice President Kamala Harris‘s campaign shut down Sen. J.D. Vance’s (R-OH) request for a second vice presidential debate between him and Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) to be scheduled.

Harris, however, expressed openness to scheduling another debate against former President Donald Trump after the one debate agreed to on Sept. 10, in a statement sent out Thursday afternoon. Harris’s campaign also asserted that the “debate about debates is over.”

“Donald Trump’s campaign accepted our proposal for three debates — two presidential and a vice presidential debate,” Harris spokesman Michael Tyler said. “Assuming Donald Trump actually shows up on Sept. 10 to debate Vice President Harris, then Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) will see Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) on Oct. 1 and the American people will have another opportunity to see the vice president and Donald Trump on the debate stage in October.”

Trump and Vance have both pushed for multiple debates this fall, accusing Harris and Walz of hiding from unscripted events.
