Vice President Kamala Harris is leaning hard into Gov. Tim Walz’s (D-MN) background as a high school football coach, using his resume as a cudgel against former President Donald Trump’s running mate, Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH), during her remarks at a campaign event in Pennsylvania.
Harris said the Minnesota governor would be “ready on day one” during her Tuesday remarks at Temple University. She then used a sports analogy to describe the contest between Walz and Vance as a “matchup between the varsity team and the JV squad” without referring to Vance by name.
Harris’s quip comes after her campaign has launched a series of attacks to label the Trump-Vance ticket as “weird.”
