Hillary Scholten to face Republican Paul Hudson in general election

    Republican Paul Hudson defeated primary opponent Michael Markey on Tuesday night, advancing to the general election to challenge Rep. Hillary Scholten (D-MI).

    The Associated Press called the race for Hudson at 12:04 a.m. Eastern time. Hudson won with 54.6% of the vote with 53% of the votes counted. Markey received 45.4%.

    Scholten is a front-line House Democrat whose race is rated “likely Democratic” by the Cook Political Report.
