Trump said that he expects 25% tariffs to be put in place against Mexico and Canada effective Feb. 1.
“We’re thinking in terms of 25% on Mexico and Canada because they’re allowing vast numbers of people” across the border, Trump said, saying that Canada specifically was a “very bad abuser.”
He cited the large amount of fentanyl crossing the border as well.
“I think Feb. 1,” he said when asked when the tariffs would come into effect.
