Trump complained about the state of the United Nations Complex, saying he bid on the 2005 renovation contract and could’ve made the building much nicer.
“Many years ago, a very successful real estate developer known as Donald J. Trump bid on the renovation of this very same United Nations complex. I said I would do it for $500 million,” he told the conference. “I told them I would give you the best of everything. You went in another direction, and it was far inferior. I turned out to be right. You had massive cost overruns. You walk on Terrazzo, not marble, you notice that. They still haven’t finished the job.”
Trump testified in 2005 that the contractors were charging too much for the renovations, which ended up costing $2.3 billion.
