
Trump has pardoned approximately 1,500 Jan. 6 Capitol rioters and issued six commutations in some of his first actions as the 47th president of the United States.
“These are the hostages,” he said while signing the documents in the Oval Office.
Trump campaigned on pardoning the Jan. 6 rioters throughout the 2024 cycle. Speculation has mounted about whether the pardons will extend to those who had been convicted of attacking Capitol police officers.
