Speaking at the United Nations General Assembly, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held up photos showing Palestinian suffering in Gaza amid Israel’s war with Hamas.

The photos showed hungry, malnourished children amid the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, as well as the destruction from Israeli airstrikes. Erdogan used the visual aids to condemn the Israeli military’s Gaza operation, which he described as “genocide” of Palestinian civilians.

“Just feel your conscience and answer the following question. Can we possibly have a reasonable reason for this brutality in 2025?” he said, presenting an image of hungry women holding buckets and pots waiting to get food. Gaza is currently experiencing a famine.

“This shameful picture has been unfolding in Gaza and is being repeated for 23 months now,” Erdogan added.

Turkey is one of many nations that support a two-state solution between Palestinians and Israelis.
