Go right young man

Generation Z, pollsters tell us, is the most left-leaning generation yet. And there is some truth to that. Where Generation X voted for House Democrats in 2012 by just a 48% to 41% margin, a decade later Generation Z went for Democrats by a much larger 62% to 31% margin.

Now in the ensuing decade, Generation X has gotten even more conservative. In fact, by 2022 Generation X voted for House Republicans over Democrats by a 52% to 40% margin. As voters get older, they still do get more conservative.

Will the same thing happen to Generation Z? Probably.

If you drill down into the Generation Z numbers, you’ll find that they are much more polarized along gender lines then millennial voters were. In 2013, just 38% of young men identified as Republicans. Fast forward 10 years and now 49% of young men identify as Republicans.

But all those new Republican young men are being drowned out by young women who are more attached to the Democratic Party than ever.

But will those women stay that way? Past evidence suggests not.

It turns out that as women transition from being single to being married, they are also prone to switching from considering themselves Democrats to considering themselves Republicans. For example, in the 2022 election single women voted for Democrats by a 68% to 31% margin. But married women actually voted for Republicans by a 56% to 42% margin.

All Republicans have to do, apparently, to get women to switch parties is find a good man for them to marry.

And it is no secret why young men are abandoning the Democratic Party in droves.

The message the Democratic Party has for men is clear: you are, at best, worthless. Democratic Party programs have empowered women to procreate without you entirely. In fact, most likely you are a #MeToo pervert who needs to be punished, without due process, by a college inquisition board.

If you want, you can be a silent ally for women’s causes, but please don’t ever talk — we’ve heard enough from the patriarchy already.

No wonder so many young men are becoming Republicans.
