Ida retired from Atlantic hurricane name list, replaced with Imani
Floodwaters slowly recede in the aftermath of Hurricane Ida in Lafitte, La., about 25 miles south of New Orleans, Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2021. The World Meteorological Organization is set to retire Ida from the hurricane list.

Ida has been retired from the list of Atlantic hurricane names after the deadly Category 4 hurricane caused destruction from Louisiana to New England last year.

The World Meteorological Organization said Wednesday the name would be retired from the list, which repeats names every six years, and replaced with Imani.
