Bus crash on Dulles Access Rd leaves 13 injured — and drivers stuck

One eastbound lane of traffic on the Dulles Access Road has reopened after a Monday morning crash that injured 13 people, a spokesman for the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority said.

The crash occured when the Tysons Express transit bus ran into two construction vehicles parked along the shoulder shortly after 9 a.m. No construction workers were injured, but 13 bus riders were transported to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

Some drivers en route to the airport likely missed their flights, as the road was closed for about two hours. Most drivers were able to be rerouted back to the adjacent Dulles Toll Road, which remained open throughout the morning.

Cleanup is expected to continue throughout the early afternoon, so travelers to Dulles should be aware of likely slowdowns.
