Erick Erickson: Fox News no longer ‘bedrock’ for conservatives

Erick Erickson, influential in conservative media and a Fox News contributor, said the network he works for is flailing along with the rest of the conservative movement.

In a blog post Monday for his website TheResurgent.com, Erickson said the movement has been taken over by opportunists and suggested that Fox News is no longer the standard bearer of news for the right.

“The result is a movement increasingly devoid of ideas and intellectual arguments to halt the leftward drift in the nation,” wrote Erickson, a longtime critic of President Trump and his takeover of the Republican Party. “Many of the voices who could are now tainted by their cheerleading of Donald Trump during the election season, making excuses for the inexcusable. Fox News, once seen as the bedrock news outlet for the right, is in a difficult stretch. The Heritage Foundation is in turmoil. And too many others are looking to cash in.”

Erickson is a longtime critic of President Trump and his usurping of the Republican Party. During the GOP primary, he disinvited Trump from attending the annual RedState gathering, saying that Trump’s rhetoric crossed lines of “decency.”

Fox is currently embroiled in an ongoing sexual harassment scandal.
