Trump’s support shrinking in military counties, growing in rural areas

Support for President Trump among those in the military has dropped in the last few weeks, although his support in rural areas continues to grow.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Gallup poll data shows Trump’s support in counties with military posts has dropped eight points in the last month. In the poll, 50.1 percent of voters in those areas supported Trump in February, and that number felt to 41.4 percent in March.

According to the report, Trump won 56 percent of counties with military posts in the 2016 election.

At the same time, Trump’s support among lower income white voters in Appalachia is growing. In those areas, Trump’s support went from 54.9 percent in February to 61.9 percent in March.

Aggregation of daily Gallup data showed Trump’s approval rating only dropped one point, from 36.9 percent in February to 35.9 percent in March.
