Pence Won’t Say David Duke Is ‘Deplorable’

If you live in a battleground state, odds are you’ve seen an anti-Trump ad railing on Trump’s David Duke stumble on CNN’s State of the Union.

Can the Trump campaign make the same mistake twice? Apparently, as VP nominee Mike Pence joined Wolf Blitzer tonight, Pence had a similar stumble when Blitzer asked him whether or not he would call former KKK leader David Duke “a deplorable.”

Pence responded: “No. I’m not in the name calling business, Wolf, you know me better than that.”

Blitzer was referring to Hillary Clinton’s remark calling half of Trump’s supporters a “basket of deplorables.” She has since walked the statement back.

While Pence noted to Blitzer that “Trump has denounced David Duke repeatedly” and said “we don’t want his support,” a seemingly simple question with an easy answer (yes!) tripped up Pence.
