Vice Presidential nominee Mike Pence snapped back at President Obama Tuesday evening after the commander in chief claimed Donald Trump’s approach to governing would imprison America.
“[I]t’s not about isolating the United States from the world,” Pence told Fox News’ “O’Reilly Factor” Tuesday. “It’s really about ensuring the security of this nation and that we are a nation.”
The Indiana governor added Obama’s criticism in front of many world leaders at the United Nations in New York was not the first time he has thrown his own constituents under the bus on a large stage.
“On the foreign stage at the United Nations, it’s pretty typical for this president throughout his presidency, he has been willing — willing to be critical of the American people and on the foreign stage and I think that’s unfortunate,” Pence said.
Pence pointed to former Republican President Ronald Reagan’s old adage “a nation without borders is not a nation,” as the immigration and security philosophy he supports.
