Rep. Paul Gosar: Hoyer’s travel ban comments a ‘slap in the face to anyone with common sense’

Rep. Paul Gosar, R-Ariz., said that House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer’s, D-Md., reaction to the Supreme Court ruling on President Trump’s travel ban was “a slap in the face to anyone with common sense.”

On Monday, Hoyer called the court’s ruling allowing portions of Trump’s revised travel ban to temporarily proceed a victory for “ISIS and other terror groups by providing them with a potent tool for recruitment and radicalization.”

Gosar said he doesn’t often respond to statements from his Democratic colleagues but felt Hoyer’s statement was “too ridiculous not to counter.”

“To say this ban is a ‘victory to ISIS’ and ‘places our country in serious danger’ is not backed up by any factual evidence or historical sequence. The real danger is underestimating the risk of terrorism by the open borders advocated by the Democrats,” Gosar said in a Facebook post.

“His rhetoric is manipulative to the American people and a slap in the face to anyone with common sense,” Gosar added.

The Supreme Court announced Monday it would hear oral arguments over the travel ban while ruling the administration could start blocking nationals from six Muslim-majority countries from entering the country as early as Thursday, if the foreign nationals do not have relationships with U.S. citizens or businesses.
