Bill Nye: This ‘anti-science movement’ under Trump is ‘going to pass’

Science Guy” Bill Nye criticized President Trump’s administration for participating in “the anti-science movement,” while stating he has hope in younger generations to embrace science.

“As what I hope is the last gasp of the anti-science movement, we have this extraordinary administration with extraordinary people heading up the Department of Education and Environmental Protection Agency,” Nye told Time magazine. “But that’s going to pass.”

“My biggest concern is that this idea that one’s own opinion is given the same weight as what’s scientifically understood,” he said.

Over the summer, the White House and the EPA began recruiting scientists for an adversarial “red team” in the debate over global warming.

The best way to change minds is by directly confronting climate change skeptics, according to Nye.

“If we were talking about climate change the way we discuss whatever happened in Niger or the president’s extraordinary tweet of today,” Nye said, “we would be doing something about it.”

Nye is currently promoting his new documentary, “Bill Nye: Science Guy.”
