Netanyahu banks on Trump to get re-elected in Israel

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is banking on President Trump to help him win re-election.

Large billboards now loom over both Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, showing Netanyahu shaking hands with Trump and bearing the Israeli leader’s campaign slogan: “Netanyahu. In Another League.”

The display is a nod to Netanyahu’s friendship with Trump and the president’s controversial decision to move the U.S. Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

Netanyahu also put out a campaign video which bears the caption: “They said it was impossible!” According to Haaretz, the video shows Netanyahu making the case for the embassy move at a Cabinet meeting and then Trump marking the official opening of the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem in May of last year. “Today we officially open the United States Embassy in Jerusalem. Congratulations,” Trump says.

Netanyahu, who is fighting against three corruption cases, faces a tough challenger in the April 9 national election: former Gen. Benny Gantz. Netanyahu is favored to win, but Gantz is catching up in the polls.
