The Faculty Senate of the University of Florida passed a “no confidence” resolution regarding the institution’s search for a new president.
The lone finalist, Sen. Ben Sasse (R-NE), has received scrutiny from some students and staff at the university, culminating in the symbolic step from the faculty to pass the resolution.

Faculty Senate member Breann Garbas told the Gainesville Sun that the faculty had a problem with a lack of transparency in the selection process.
“The process is the biggest problem here because we don’t know who those other candidates were. We don’t know anything about them, and we have no input in this and no say in it as a faculty as a whole,” Garbas said.
The vote by the university’s Board of Trustees on whether Sasse should be selected as president is expected to happen Nov. 1, with the board scheduled to meet with him in the coming days.
