Trump blames financial market downturn on new Democrat-controlled House

President Trump said Friday that his prediction of financial market turmoil has come true now that Democrats have retaken control of the House.

“As I have stated many times, if the Democrats take over the House or Senate, there will be disruption to the Financial Markets. We won the Senate, they won the House. Things will settle down,” Trump posted to Twitter Friday morning. “They only want to impeach me because they know they can’t win in 2020, too much success!”

The 116th Congress convened Thursday and some House Democrats already began to call for impeaching the president. A freshman lawmaker, Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., said that she told her son that “we’re gonna go in and impeach the motherf—ker,” in talking about Trump.

The president claims that the only reason Democrats are seeking impeachment is because they are getting desperate to win in 2020.

Democrats also passed legislation to fund the government without any money for Trump’s proposed border wall, which Trump has said he will not sign into law.
