A little bit of positive news is starting to come from Whitney Houston’s family now that everyone is together in New Jersey preparing for the singer’s funeral.
Bobby Brown, the pop diva’s ex-husband and the father of her only child, says their daughter is “doing much better” after she was rushed to the hospital twice after hearing the news that her mother was found dead at a Beverly Hills hotel.
Bobbi Kristina, 18, was released from the hospital in L.A. and joined her grandmother, Cissy Houston, and the rest of her mom’s family in Newark.
“My daughter Bobbi Kristina is doing much better,” Bobby told ABC News on Wednesday.
“She is dealing with the tragedy of her mother’s death and would prefer to do it outside of the public eye,” he continued.
“Obviously the death of her mother is affecting her, however we will get through this tragedy as a family.”
Bobby has decided to cancel his reunion tour with his band New Edition to be with his daughter.
Whitney’s funeral will take place on Saturday at noon at Newark’s New Hope Baptist Church.
There is still no word on the final resting place of the singer. The family is said to be torn between New Jersey, where she was born, and her adopted hometown of Atlanta.
Janet offers some advice to BK about losing a loved one
Janet Jackson might know a thing or two about losing a very famous loved one.
In an interview with Anderson Cooper, the pop star offered a bit of advice to Whitney’s daughter, Bobbi Kristina.
“You have to come to terms at some point. You have to actually give it up to God,” said Janet, who lost her brother Michael Jackson in 2009. “It sounds so mean, but you have to move on. You can’t hold on to that because it can be very devastating.”
But Janet does concede that there’s something unique about losing a mom. “I lost my brother, she lost her mother. There’s a difference,” she said. “I don’t know what that’s like being so young.”
Anderson, who has also lost a sibling, added, “I don’t think there is such a thing as ‘closure.’ I think that’s just a made-up TV word.”
Janet agreed, saying, “There’s never a day, not one day has gone by where I don’t think about my brother,” she says. But “you have to go on with life. You figure out a way to move on.”
Are Kobe and Vanessa reconciling?
Well this is one way to finalize a divorce. Basketball star Kobe Bryant and his soon-to-be-ex-wife Vanessa were caught kissing by one of TMZ’s cameras.
Vanessa showed up to the Lakers game on Valentine’s Day and the two shared a kiss in the tunnel on the way to the locker room, TMZ says.
Vanessa filed for divorce in December and the pair have already settled on who gets their properties — with Vanessa reportedly getting all three homes in Newport Beach.
But the divorce can’t be finalized until June, so there is plenty of time for Vanessa to decide if she should stay or go.
Justin is ‘happy’ with Jen
Everyone wants to know more about Jennifer Aniston and her beau Justin Theroux, but he knows better than to spill intimate details. “I understand the curiosity, but other than saying I am happy, I am not going to indulge it,” Justin told New York magazine. “That’s building your own torture device.” The couple have been dating since May, moved in together six months ago and recently adopted Sophie, a boxer/pit bull puppy.
Say what?
“No, me and Katy Perry don’t have a thing, but she’s a very good artist.”
