Ivanka Trump to raise money alongside Kevin McCarthy in California

President Trump’s eldest daughter Ivanka Trump will head to California next month to raise money for Protect the House PAC alongside House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif.

“At the request of House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, Ivanka Trump will be headlining a June 18 Protect the House fundraiser with the Leader in California,” Trump said in a statement, according to Politico Playbook.

A spokesperson for McCarthy confirmed with the Washington Examiner that Ivanka will be traveling with McCarthy to California in June.

The report noted that Trump and McCarthy developed a close relationship while working together to pass the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and its Child Tax Credit provisions. They also worked closely on legislation that worked against online sex trafficking.

McCarthy is seen as a front-runner to replace House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., when he retires from the House at the end of this term.

Trump’s security clearance was recently upgraded to full Top Secret, a source briefed on the matter told Axios, at the same time her husband, Jared Kushner, was upgraded.

Both Trump and senior adviser and Trump’s son-in-law Kushner will now be able to sit in on high-level White House meetings, including the president’s daily intelligence briefing, as well as access foreign intelligence.
