Giancarlo Granda says that since a sex scandal between himself and Jerry Falwell Jr., the former president of Liberty University, and his wife, Becki Falwell, became public, the two have been “relentlessly harassing” him.
Granda told Fox News in a report published on Wednesday that the Falwells “have been relentlessly harassing me and people close to me.”
He added, “I was afraid for a long time and was constantly reminded by the Falwells of how they would come after me if I spoke the truth, which is why it took so long to speak up.”
On Aug. 24, in a report from Reuters, Granda claimed that he had been in a yearslong sexual relationship with Becki and that Jerry enjoyed watching them. In a statement the day before, Falwell admitted to the Washington Examiner that his wife had been having an affair, denied he was personally involved, and claimed Granda was trying to blackmail them.
Falwell had already been put on an indefinite leave of absence from his position as president of the university after he posted, then deleted, a photo on Instagram of him and his wife’s assistant with their pants unzipped. Falwell later insisted that the photo was merely a joke.
Days later, the Reuters article was published in which the outlet confirmed screenshots of a video call that Granda says he took did depict the two Falwells and Granda. Becki was naked in that photo, and Jerry was peeking into view from behind a door.
After that scandal broke, Falwell was asked to resign his position as president.
