Michael Bloomberg: Trump has better than 50 percent odds of winning in 2020

Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg says President Trump’s odds of re-election in 2020 are better than 50 percent.

In an interview with the New York Times, the billionaire commented on the Democratic Party’s lack of a strong, relatable message in the 2016 campaign.

“Hillary [Clinton] said, ‘Vote for me because I’m a woman and the other guy’s bad,'” Bloomberg said.

Bloomberg, who was mulling an independent run of his own, ultimately endorsed Clinton over Trump and spoke at the Democratic National Convention. He has repeatedly condemned Trump for being a “demagogue.”

Despite that, Bloomberg thinks Trump’s chances of being re-elected to a second term in the White House are more likely than not in the face of an unorganized Democratic front.

“They’ll step on each other and re-elect Donald Trump,” Bloomberg said, adding that there is “a 55 percent chance he gets re-elected.”
