The Obama family will ditch Washington for Palm Springs after President-elect Trump’s inauguration on Friday.
But weather forecasts show the southern California city will be unusually cold on Friday.
President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama, along with daughters Malia and Sasha, will fly out of Andrews Air Force Base at about 2:45 p.m. on Special Air Mission 29,000, technically Air Force One, but because Trump will have been sworn in, the plane’s call sign will be changed to reflect a current president is not on board, according to a report.
Palm Springs, a normally sunny city, will see rain and a high of 53 degrees on Friday, according to the Weather Channel’s reports on Monday evening.

It’s not clear how the family will return to D.C. following the two-week vacation in southern California. They could charter a plane or fly commercial. Upon their return, they will move into their new residence in the district’s Kalorama neighborhood, where movers were spotted on Monday.
