Swiss aerial demonstration jet crashes

Two Swiss Air Force supersonic demonstration fighters collided with each other during a routine training airshow, causing one to crash-land on Thursday.

According to a report, the Northrop F-5 Tiger was flying in formation with five other members of the Patrouille Suisse team when the jet plummeted toward the ground. The pilot was able to eject and is said to be in good condition considering the circumstances of the crash. He bulldozed through a greenhouse complex on the way down.

The jet apparently clipped the horizontal stabilizer of another demo jet. The second pilot landed safely.

This crash follows a bizarre string of aerial demonstration crashes going back one week. Last Thursday, a U.S. Thunderbirds demonstration F-16 crashed after flying over the Air Force Academy graduation in Colorado Springs and the pilot ejected safely. Two hours later, a U.S. Navy Blue Angels demonstration plane crashed, killing U.S. Marine Capt. Kuss.

On the same day as the Swiss crash, a Russian Su-27 demonstration jet belonging to the Russian Knights also crashed, killing the pilot.
