Samuel Adams pledges $1,000 grants to restaurant workers negatively affected by coronavirus

Samuel Adams is offering $1,000 grants to restaurant workers who have been negatively affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

Ohio restaurant workers will be eligible for the grants courtesy of the Samuel Adams beer company and the Greg Hill Foundation if they satisfy five requirements, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Workers must complete an application form, must have worked 30 hours per week, must have been employed for at least three months at one location, must have worked in a restaurant, bar, cafe, or nightclub, and must submit the last two pay stubs they received.

The fund was seeded by a $100,000 donation from Samuel Adam’s founder Jim Koch, who has also said he will match up to $100,000 in donations.

Samuel Adams rolled out a similar plan in Massachusetts, and the success has inspired them to launch the same plan in Ohio and over a dozen other states, according to LocalDVM.com.

The brewery said there are more than 1 million restaurants in the United States employing more than 15 million people who are particularly hurt by coronavirus closures.

Anyone interested in applying for a grant is encouraged to visit www.restaurantstrong.org. Applications and donations will be accepted from April 3 through April 24.
