Cattle rustling alive, well in Taneytown

Like a scene out of an old Western movie, two Taneytown men apparently decided that cattle rustling was a good idea.

Police charged Timothy Robert Kloeckner, 28, and Timothy Patrick Nelson, 23, both of the 7100 block of Otterdale Mill Road, with fourth degree burglary and theft under $500 for stealing a newborn calf Wednesday from nearby Lethbridge Farm on the 4700 block of Middleburg Road near Taneytown, according to police.

Police said both Kloeckner and Nelson were intoxicated and had the calf in their home when Carroll County Sheriff?s deputies arrived.

The farmer had warned them to stay off his property when they trespassed previously. The pair admitted to climbing the farm?s fence to take the calf as a joke, intending to return it the next day, according to police.
