Trump signs off on pardon for Scooter Libby: Report

President Trump has reportedly signed off on a pardon for Scooter Libby, the former chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney.

The pardon has not been officially announced, but is imminent, sources told ABC News.

Libby was convicted in 2007 of lying to the FBI and obstruction of justice in relation to an investigation into the leaked identity of former CIA officer Valerie Plame.

Former President George W. Bush commuted Libby’s sentence of 30 months in federal prison, but declined to pardon him.

Libby had lost his law license, but that was restored along with his voting rights in 2013 by former Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell.

Up until now Trump has pardoned two individuals during his presidency.

Trump’s first pardon came in August to political ally and anti-illegal immigration hardliner Joe Arpaio, the former sheriff of Maricopa County, Ariz., who was awaiting sentencing for criminal contempt for allegedly ignoring a federal judge’s order.

The second went to former Navy sailor Kristian Saucier last month, who was sentenced to a year in prison during the 2016 campaign for taking pictures inside a nuclear submarine.
