McConnell has ‘successful surgery’ to fix shoulder fracture

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell had a “successful surgery” on his shoulder following a fracture earlier this month.

“Senator McConnell had successful surgery yesterday in Louisville, Kentucky to repair a fracture in his shoulder,” a spokesperson for the Kentucky Republican said in a Friday statement. “The surgery was performed without incident, and the Leader is grateful to the surgical team for their skill.”

McConnell, 77, fractured his shoulder on Aug. 4 after taking a fall in his home in Louisville, Kentucky. The senator made fun of the incident the day after, comparing himself to basketball star Zion Williamson who injured his knee after his shoe broke.

The fall came after the start of a five-week long August recess for the Senate.
