The city’s water agency is warning residents in a large swath of Northwest Washington not to drink their water because of chlorine dangers. Water and Sewer Authority officials discovered a chlorine spike about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, officials said in a community alert. The water warning effects residents who live between Western Avenue on the west and Connecticut Avenue to the east, as well as from River Road on the north to Nebraska Avenue on the south. Authorities expected to lift the warning by early afternoon, a WASA spokesman said. The federal government has been alerted. Anyone who feels they’ve been over-exposed to chlorine is urged to call a doctor. For questions, call WASA’s command center, 202-612-3400.
