After Sunday’s scorcher and Code Orange ozone alert, forecasters say temperatures should be slightly cooler this week, with rain possible through Thursday.
The high temperature Sunday was 92 degrees at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, according a climate report, and peak temperatures this week are expected to be in the 80s.
Today is expected to be mostly sunny with a high in the upper 80s, although the National Weather Service predicts a 20-percent chance of precipitation.
Tuesday is all but certain to be rainy, since forecasters say there’s a 100-percent chance of rain. Thunderstorms are also possible, largely before 8 p.m.
For Wednesday, forecasters expect a high temperature of about 86 in the District and a chance of showers before 2 p.m. There’s a 30-percent chance of rain in the District.
Thursday is expected to be the coolest day this week, with a high temperature near 80 degrees slightly cooler temperatures in some suburbs. According to the Weather Service, there’s a 40-percent chance of rain.
Friday, Saturday and Sunday are all expected to be at least partly sunny, with high temperatures in the low- to mid-80s.
