Baltimore County to participate in procurement expo

To provide small-, minority- and women-owned businesses with an opportunity to network with regional procurement officials, Jim Smith, Baltimore County executive, has announced that the county will participate in a Regional Procurement Expo.

The expo is sponsored by the Baltimore Metropolitan Council and its standing committee, The Baltimore Regional Cooperative Purchasing Committee. Through the expo, businesses can learn about upcoming procurement opportunities with local governments, including public school systems, libraries, community colleges and economic development agencies.

Participants are expected to include purchasing officials from Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford and Howard counties, as well as Baltimore and Annapolis. The event will feature a guest speaker who will present a successful woman-owned business and a brief workshop on how to respond to government request for proposals. Participants will also have the chance to network with about 25 purchasing officials from 21 public purchasing offices from seven municipalities.
