Actress Susan Sarandon signaled her support for the woman who has accused 2020 presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden of sexual assault.
Sarandon, who supported Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders’s now-ended White House bid, on Saturday, tweeted out a story from the Intercept regarding the credibility of Tara Reade’s accusation that Biden sexually assaulted her in 1993. The headline of the piece read, “New evidence supporting credibility Of Tara Reade’s allegation against Joe Biden emerges.”

Reade has accused Biden of pushing her against a wall and penetrating her with his fingers when she worked for his Senate office in 1993.
The story Sarandon shared reported on a video clip of Larry King talking to a woman who called his show in the 1990s to ask for advice about her daughter, who had “problems” working for “prominent senator.” Reade had previously claimed her mother called the show about her allegations decades ago but had forgotten the date. What appears to be the interview was then tracked down and sent to the outlet last week.
Sarandon joined other Sanders supporters who have voiced their frustration over the Biden accusations.
“The video of Tara Reade’s late mother calling into Larry King to blow the whistle about about Tara’s sexual assault is being met with relative silence from a cadre of progressives right now and I want you all to know that I see you. We all do,” a former Sanders campaign adviser said on Twitter in response to the news of the video.
Briahna Joy Gray, Sanders’s former press secretary, also responded to a tweet from Donald Trump Jr. criticizing the handling of uncorroborated allegations against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh compared to the allegation against Biden.
“Progressives didn’t make this happen. Corporate Democrats chose Biden,” she said.
