Hillary Clinton drew cheers from her supporters Friday after she mocked Donald Trump’s late-night Twitter rant against former Miss Universe Alicia Machado.
“I mean, really. Who gets up at at 3 o’clock in the morning to engage in a Twitter attack against a former Miss Universe?” the Democratic nominee asked at a campaign rally in Coral Spring, Fla. “I mean, he hurled as many insults as he could. Really, why does he do things like that?”
Trump drew attention to himself early Friday morning with a series of tweets attacking Machado and the press.
He first tweeted at 3:20 a.m., saying, “Anytime you see a story about me or my campaign saying “sources said,” DO NOT believe it. There are no sources, they are just made up lies!”
Next, he tweeted at 5:14 a.m., “Wow, Crooked Hillary was duped and used by my worst Miss U. Hillary floated her as an ‘angel’ without checking her past, which is terrible!”
Trump then tweeted at 5:19 a.m., “Using Alicia M in the debate as a paragon of virtue just shows that Crooked Hillary suffers from BAD JUDGEMENT! Hillary was set up by a con.”
The Republican nominee’s tweets come as both he and Clinton’s team have fought this week over his treatment of the former Miss Universe back in the mid-1990s.
On Friday, Clinton kept up her attacks on Trump’s temperament.
“I mean, his latest Twitter meltdown is unhinged, even for him,” she said. “It proves yet again that he is temperamentally unfit to be president and commander in chief.”
“I have said it before and I’ll say it again: A man who can be provoked by a tweet should not be anywhere near the nuclear codes,” Clinton added to cheers and applause.
