Angela Merkel’s plane forced to make unscheduled landing on way to G-20 summit

German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s plane was diverted on her way to the G-20 summit in Argentina, making an unscheduled landing in Cologne.

Merkel’s plane was flying over the Netherlands when those on board were notified that there had been an “electronic systems failure” and the plane was turning around to land in Cologne, CNN reported Thursday.

Merkel had to reschedule some of her meetings at the two-day summit due to the plane needing a replacement part.

President Trump left for the summit Thursday, tweeting from Air Force One that he was canceling his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin over Russia’s aggressive posture toward Ukraine.
