Fenty supporters getting behind Kwame Brown

A group of Mayor Adrian Fenty’s supporters will be gathering at the home of the lame-duck mayor’s former campaign manager Bill Lightfoot on Wednesday night to raise cash for the Kwame Brown for D.C. Council Chairman campaign.

The gathering is scheduled just one week after a similar group of Fenty supporters gathered to fundraise and show their support for the Vince Gray for Mayor campaign.

Lightfoot told The Washington Examiner that the fundraiser is part of the Democratic party’s “unifying behind Democratic nominees.

Brown, currently an at-large councilman, picked up the Democratic nomination for council chairman in September. He is expected to beat  DC Statehood Green Party candidate Ann Wilcox in the general election.
