Unidentified person wins $410M Mega Millions jackpot in Arizona

The identity of a major lottery winner remains unknown days after becoming the first person in Arizona to win the Mega Millions.

The person paid $2 for a ticket and ended up walking away with a more than $400 million prize, which lottery officials said Wednesday would be worth approximately $318 million after taxes.

“It is Arizona’s very first Mega Millions jackpot winner!” wrote lottery officials in a statement after the win.

The mystery millionaire’s single ticket matched all six numbers of the Mega Millions sweepstakes, including the “golden Megaball.” The odds of winning the Mega Millions lottery are 1 in 302,575,350.

On Friday, June 12, the jackpot will be reset to $20 million.
