The National Bar Association, which bills itself as the “oldest and largest national network of predominantly African-American attorneys and judges in the U.S.,” will relaunch its political action committee this week.
“Given the 2016 national election results, as well as the upcoming national elections in 2018 and 2020, we are at a pivotal time in history,” said A. Scott Bolden, NBA PAC chairman, in a statement.
“Now more than ever, it matters that NBA members across the country — lawyers and legal professionals — work together to speak out about the current state of national affairs, and the issues of great importance to the National Bar Association, its members and our communities.”
The NBA PAC will kick off its national effort to fundraise and boost political candidates in a members-only event hosted Tuesday at the Reed Smith law firm in Washington, D.C.
The National Bar Association was founded in 1925 and counts 65,000 lawyers, judges, law professors, and law students as members.
