Former employee arrested in Bowman Restaurant robbery

With the two men accused of robbing a Parkville restaurant behind bars, the manager said now she can breathe a sigh of relief.

“The police did an excellent job,” Shari Sifrit said.

It was only last week that Sifrit, the general manager at Bowman Restaurant and Pub in Parkville, was forced into a refrigerator with the barrel of a shotgun pointed at her head.

“I had trouble sleeping for two days,” Sifrit said. “I?ve never had a gun placed against my head before.”

Baltimore County police have charged two men with robbing the restaurant in the 9300 block of Harford Road on May 2: Nathaniel Green, 24, a former employee, and Shakime Duval Jackson, 33, both of the 600 block of North Carrollton Street in Baltimore.

Two men, one wearing a mask, entered the restaurant about 9:30 a.m. One was armed with a shotgun and the other with a knife, police said.

An employee immediately ran out the door to the next-door headquarters of the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge No. 4, where police were called.

Inside the restaurant, three employees were forced into a walk-in refrigerator, police said.

The robbers then stole $4,750 from an office area, according to charging documents.

The suspects fled the building but were recorded on a surveillance tape. One of the victims thought she recognized the voice of the masked man as that of Green, police said.

When he was interviewed by detectives, Green implicated Jackson, according to police. Jackson was arrested Friday night and charged early Saturday morning.

A Court Commissioner denied bail for Jackson. Green?s bail was set at $250,000.

Both men remained at the Baltimore County Detention Center Monday.

Sifrit said she was “surprised and disappointed” to learn that Green is one of the robbery suspects.

“I know him well,” she said. “I don?t know why he did it.”

She said the victims have received widespread support from customers.

“We appreciate it,” she said. “A lot of people had concerns that the neighborhood is going downhill. It?s not. This was an isolated incident.”
